Tuning supremos Revolution Motorstore have launched a simple but effective product to protect the engine of any Subaru Impreza from 1993-2009. Constructed from lightweight alloy, the Zero Sports magnetic sump plug not only looks the part, but utilises an incredibly powerful magnetic core to pull any potentially damaging metal particles out of the engine oil and onto the plug, to be removed at each service.

Even a cared-for engine can have miniscule metal particles floating within the oil, and even with regular oil changes, these can cause microscopic abrasions on the engine’s moving parts. Factor in cars that get driven hard – or if you’re running in a new engine, and the possibility of foreign bodies floating in your sump becomes rather more likely.

This can all be avoided for the princely sum of just £24.99. Finished in a rather lovely, but sadly rarely seen, blue anodised finish, The Zero Sports sump plug is classic example of Japanese over-engineering. At around 1% of the cost of an engine rebuild.. It makes an awful lot of sense!
