All cars have parts that wear out and eventually need replacing. Im sure with today’s technology they could make an indestructible car – but for now we’ll have to put up with fitting new break pads, new clutches and especially new tyres.
People forget that the only thing separating them from the road and the metal of their wheels is some bits of rubber that more often than not end up being worn down to the wire! Ensuring there is enough tread on your tyres, and that your tyre walls are solid is something you must do as often as possible.

When the time to change your tyres comes around, there are a number of things you must bear in mind. For starters, its usually better to keep things even. What i mean by this is if your going to replace the front drivers side tyre, then replace the front passenger one too.
Another thing to bear in mind is the cost of new tyres vs. the cost of a new set of alloy wheels. Sometimes it can cost £300/£400 for a new set of tyres, and depending on where you buy them from you can get a new set of alloys with tyres for the same price! Plus you are updating the look of your car at the same time!
Next time you notice that your tread is a bit low, think of your car on a new shiney set of rims before you go and re-shoe those old steel wheels!
